Girl's Season is currently scheduled for March 15th to May 2nd.
Under the guidance of the WIAA, GSHL will be participating in Cross Country, Boys Tennis and Boys Golf starting Feb. 1. Students will need to be cleared through Family ID in order to participate in any sports. The phases outlined in the Roadmap to Recovery issued by the state requires Clark County to be in phase 2 for the start of competition in the remainder of Fall sports. In order for Clark County to reach phase 2 we must meet all four metrics set by the state. Hopefully we will reach those metrics soon and be able to compete in all Fall sports this year.
Linked is a letter that was sent out by GSHL that explains the contingency plans that have been developed in case the remainder of Fall sports aren't able to start by Feb. 1. (GSHL Letter)
Please make sure to be up to date with your physicals so there is no delay in getting cleared and being able to participate this season. Hope for the best!

Attention all Girls Tennis Players!
You can get cleared for Spring Girl's Tennis Starting Tuesday February 16th in the Business office. The first day of practice for all girls cleared or not is Monday February 29th at 2:30 on the courts for a meeting. Only those cleared will be able to stay for the practice and count it as the 1st practice of 10 they need to be eligible for matches but we want all girls interested in playing to be at the meeting the first day!

Congratulations to the NOW 8 year in a row district champions Skyview Girl's Tennis Team. They capped another amazing league/district season with the league championship and district championship last night. Sammi Hampton won 1st place in singles and Kristina Metz/Macy Ballew clinched our team title with a strong dominating performance over a good Union 1 team. EVERY PLAYER on varsity contributed points to make this our BEST team effort EVER. Great job. So proud of you all! :)

Practice will end by 4:00 PM today. There will be practice Monday Morning: Labor Day at 9:00 AM. You must have 10 practices before you can play in the first match which is Wednesday September 5th at River for varsity and JV and home for C team.
Also our season's schedule is uploaded on the schedule tab. We might add some C matches with teams that are available and have the numbers so keep checking for updates. Players will also be told daily about any changes.

Super start of season
We've got about 65 girls cleared and practicing. We've got a great freshman class to build our dominant future. And it's currently sunny! (Don't look at the weather forecast for next week. Not good.)

History-making year for the Storm Boys and Girls
Skyview enjoyed a truly epic year of success for our tennis program. This is an embarassment of riches that reflects so well on our players, our parents, our coaches and our school. Congratulations to all for a year of hard work, great tennis and fantastic teamwork!
Girls first...
- Over 65 players turned out for Skyview Tennis making our program the most consistently massive program in SW Washington
- Our JV was undefeated in league
- Our varsity has now finished as league champions in five of the last six seasons
- Britanna are 2011 District Doubles Champions
- Brittany Ellingsen is a three-time district champion
- Skyview Girls are now six-time GSHL district champions. Only one team has had four or five straight championships. That would be Skyview in 2009 and 2010 respectively
- Britanna and Kristara earned the first-ever regional team trophy for either boys or girls in the West Central Tournament
- We qualified a historic-high four girls to the state championship
- We won our first state team trophy ever for the girls program, our second-place finish is also the highest team finish for either boys or girls
- Brittany and Anna have been selected as Columbian Girls Tennis All-Region Athletes of the Year
- And then Brittany and Anna are 4A doubles state champions
- Brittany and Anna are both playing in college next year. Brit at Eastern and Anna at Seattle U.

Storm make history at State
In a tough singles bracket, Kent Andreasen battled through to win-out and earn a 4th place finish. Kristina Metz and Tara Carrie won a critical loser-out match on Friday to finish 9th, but more importantly score two team points which clinched a first-ever team trophy for the girls. The Storm came in second place which bests the third place finish for boys last year.

Let's make that a six-peat
The Storm girls continued their dominance in post-season with an unprecedented sixth-straight district title. Facing a must-win match vs. Battle Ground on Monday, Kristina Metz and Tara Carrie fought off nerves and illness to prevail, earning them a berth at the regional tournament and edging out Battle Ground for a 22-21 team finish.
On Saturday, Brittany Ellingsen and Anna Romanovsky won the doubles championship in a win over Metz and Carrie. They will also advance to the regional tournament in Tacoma this week as the GSHL 4A #1 seed.
Essential to the overall district team title strategy, strong singles finishes by Sonya Hampton (4th) and Caroline Marso (5th) made the difference. Rayna Mathis and Darby Tinker were also part of Skyview's district championship team.

So, I was wrong. We tied for a second-straight league title, this year with Battle Ground. Skyview has now had all or part of the league title for 5 of the last six seasons. Go Storm!

Andreasen and Erkkila off to regionals
The Skyview boys will send two players as GSHL 4A singles seeds into the regional tournament in Tacoma next week. Kent Andreasen was runner-up in the district final and Chris Erkkila placed 3rd. Because the original #1 seed is unable to play, both Kent and Chris move up and move into the draw. Play begins on May 19.

Boys are 4A Academic State Champions
For the second time in the history of our program, the boys have earned top state scholar-athlete recognition for the 2010-11 season. They will be recognized at the state tournament in Vancouver later this month. Team members are Kent Andreasen, Ryan Budnik, Nate Coleman, Chris Erkkila, Matt Fleischauer, Daniel Harris, Lukas Kleinman, Nigel Lyons, and Tyler Peterson.

Kleinman to play tennis at Linfield
Senior Lukas Kleinman has chosen to play tennis at Linfield next fall. Lukas has been with the Storm for four years and finished third in doubles with Nigel Lyons this last year. He will join three other Skyview alums who have played for Linfield. Good luck, Luke!

The Storm swept Evergreen behind two strong singles matches from Caroline Marso and Rayna Mathis. Doubles ran the table with Kristara and HeiDar and Melemily putting some stickers on their cans of Rip It.

Led by a strong singles showing by Caroline Marso, the Storm beat the Titans 4-1 in their last of three dual matches. Doubles swept as still-unbeaten Britanna and Kristara continued dominating opponents. Also winning were Rayna Mathis and Darby Tinker at doubles.

Skyview got its eighth league win, completing a three-match sweep vs. Heritage. Winners were Caroline Marso, Britanna, Kristara and RayDar. JV winners were Emily Irwin and Melani Ortiz.

The Battle Ground Tigers bit the Storm varsity to give Skyview its first loss of the season. Despite doubles wins from Britanna and Kristara, it wasn't enough to overcome a strong BG squad. The JV remained unbeaten with a strong showing from Emily Irwin, Melani Ortiz, Caroline Marso, Savannah Bukant, Deidre Dockter and Katie Nash.

Demonstrating Skyview's depth of talent, the Storm picked up another sweep with a 5-0 win vs. Evergreen. Singles winners were Sonya Hampton and Heidi Johnson. Doubles winners were Kristara, Ray-o-line, and Melemily.
The JV remained unbeaten with their own sweep. Winners were Savannah Bukant, Priya Kudva, Marie Ross and Devon Zahm. Awesome JV showings from Ali Olson, Cambria Prentice-Watson, Deidre Dockter and Katie Nash made it a meal!

Despite a plucky Union squad, the Storm prevailed 3-2 in the second of three matches vs. the Titans. With two three-set matches, doubles made the difference. Winners were Britanna, Kristara, and Hei Ray. JV won handily 4-0 before a rain cancellation.

The Storm collected its fourth league win in a close one vs. rival Union HS. Ray Mathis saved the day with a clutch singles win at #1. Doubles wins came from Britanna and Kristara.
