Weight Training Levels

Each student, along with the instructor, will determine what level they will be in. There are five levels of instruction, based on 1) grade level of the student 2) experience of the student in weight training and 3) the personal goals of the individual student.

Weight Training:(usually Freshmen)

This level of instruction is for students who have demonstrated proper lifting techniques or who have had prior weight training experience. The goal of this level is to establish a sound lifting base, increase strength, and begin to develop some body definition. A variety of set/rep programs will be employed. Pre-test and Post-test will be used for Weight Training Core Lifts and strength levels will be used for evaluation.

Advanced I : (usually Sophomores)

This level of instruction is for students who have had a successful weight training class and would like to start gaining power for any athletic endeavor. The goal of this level is to gain power and establish strength levels above their own body size. A variety of set/rep programs will be employed. Pre-test and Post-test will be used for Advanced I Core Lifts and strength levels will be used for evaluation.

Advanced II : (usually Juniors)

This level of instruction is for students who have had a successful Advanced I weight training class and would like to focus on athletic competition or bodybuilding. Heavy weights and an aggressive program will be used. The goal of this level is, with proper form; to establish power well above their body size, and to develop the strength needed to compete in any Varsity level competition. Pre-test and Post-test will be used for Advanced II Core Lifts and strength levels will be used for evaluation.

Advanced III : (usually Seniors)

This level of instruction is for students who have had a successful Advanced II weight training class and would like to focus on advanced athletic competition or bodybuilding. Heavy weights and an aggressive program will be used. The goal of this level is, with proper form; to establish power well above their body size utilizing high difficulty lifts, and to develop the strength needed to dominate in any Varsity level competition. Pre-test and Post-test will be used for Advanced III Core Lifts and strength levels will be used for evaluation.

Advanced IV : (usually Seniors)

This advanced level of instruction is for students who have had a successful Advanced III weight training class and would like to focus on advanced athletic competition or bodybuilding. Heavy weights and an aggressive program will be used. The goal of this level is, with proper form; to establish power well above their body size utilizing high difficulty lifts, and to develop the strength needed to dominate in any Varsity level competition. Pre-test and Post-test will be used for Advanced IV Core Lifts and strength levels will be used for evaluation.
